DEDICATION
This site is dedicated to the memory of Milly, our fiery TB/connemara mare who sadly lost her life aged 20 in november 2008 due to complications arising from metabolic disease. Years of improper environment and incorrect 'treatments' led to crippling laminitis and she lost the will to live. The lessons she has taught us are a painful reminder that we cannot afford to continue to ignore that which we know is wrong. Tradition teaches us to do the 'right' things, but tradition led to the death of this lovely little horse. The words 'if only' are words which I have spoken to myself many times in the last 12 months.
My future is her legacy and as a dedication to her memory, I wholeheartedly promise to listen to my intuition, learn from my teachers, 2 and 4 legged, and help as many horses and their owners to appreciate that there is a better way.
WHAT IS HOLISTIC HOOVES?
We believe that "all horses have the innate ability to heal themselves provided the environment is condusive to their healing" (K C LaPierre 2009).
We are dedicated to the welfare of the horse. Our aim is to assist owners to improve their horses quality of life with focus on improved health, soundness, performance and longevity.

It is accepting that environment is everything the horse is exposed to; where he lives, grazes, exercises, what he eats, drinks and who he shares his environment with (other animals, and us), what he wears (rugs, tack, shoes etc.) and what he is forced to accept (wormers, vaccines, medicines etc.)
I realises that we are a big part of the horses environment and we are predators by nature. The horse is a prey animal and as such the environment he is exposed to and the act of domestication will always result in an element of stress. As horse owners, it is our responsibility to reduce this stress as much as possible.
